The UUA’s Green Sanctuary Program has been a major Unitarian Universalist vehicle for congregational organizing around environmental issues, including but not limited to climate change.
The Green Sanctuary program encourages and supports congregational leaders to extend themselves beyond their congregations; expects congregations and UU leaders to integrate their environmental work with UU identity and faith practices; and requires congregational leaders to analyze and act on environmental issues as inherently connected to the oppression of marginalized people.
